Tessellations. A new direction in my ceramic work.

Tessellations.
A new direction in my ceramic work.
Built from two simple shapes.
Repeated. Rotated. Reassembled.
Each unit locks into the next to form a shifting surface of pattern, shadow, and negative space. From a distance you see order. Up close you see movement.
Layered glazes pool along edges and break across ridges. Colour settles into the form and lifts off it again. The surface changes as you move past it.
This body of work was created in collaboration with fellow artist and sculptor Jeff Allan.
These pieces have been exhibited in galleries, where light and perspective become part of the work.
This body of work explores how repetition can create complexity, and how structure can still feel organic.

Things where you can still see the maker.
Where the process isn’t hidden.

A bold ceramic artwork I created at the end of las

A bold ceramic artwork I created at the end of last year together with fellow artist and sculptor @jballanart.

This piece, “Candy Pop,” measures 60cm × 60cm and celebrates playful colour, glaze, and form.

The dream is to continue developing this series — experimenting with new glaze colour combinations and creating the works in different sizes.

I would love to see pieces like this in large format, installed in a hotel lobby, gallery, or corporate space.

This feels like just the beginning.
